About Wastex | Highrise Demolition & Waste Removal Experts

Originally from Kaitaia, Jim and Ivy Rickit moved to Auckland January 14th 2000. The original drive, "What are you doing for the new Millennium?" With three adolescent teenagers and two dogs, we thought the best opportunities for us and our family lay in Auckland.

Jim found employment with Disposex, a small rubbish collection business started by Dave Gill.

After working for Disposex for 2 years Jim branched out on his own calling himself Wastex and then 6 months later buying Dave Gills truck.

Ivy managed the office initially and then George, our youngest son started in 2003. James our older son started in January 2004 and Jade, our daughter started in October 2004 as Office Assistant allowing Ivy to become more involved with administration, and all becoming Full Time staff of Wastex.

In 2007 we were fortunate enough to purchase a commercial property no more than 100 meters from our home, two streets away which means I can walk to work, yeah right! Anyway, it is very close to home and we love it. "Keep home and work separate". I now understand this. This is a new property below, so you know what it looks like, so please if your out at Manukau City call in for a natter and a coffee.

From the time that James, George, Dion and Peter have come on board and slowly but surely they have all got/getting better at this work. I have seen not only an increase in customer satisfaction but also, and more importantly a real concerted effort by these four men to hone and broaden their own skill levels as well as those of their fellow team mates. Team work after health and safety, has always and will always be a priority.

So in summarizing my supervisors are honing their own skill levels but also learning to impart that to the team.

In completing this section, in order for my supervisors to step up to the challenge, "I" had to step up into the Managers position, so that their positions were created. That for me was hard, but I am happy to say that we have all adjusted well.

Now fast forward to February 2011.

Jim & Ivy are now the new Wastex directors. They have taken a more hands off direction. James is now the overall day to day Manager and Jade is the Sole Office Administrator. Dion and Peter have become the new Site Supervisors. This has shown another occasion where we all stepped up a rung on the ladder.

George left in 2009 for his big OE going to England, Ireland and now doing Commercial Waterproofing for the past 2 years in Brisbane, Australia. We all wish him well in his new venture! He hopes to come back to NZ and bring his skills back and work beside with Wastex sometime soon. Watch this space……

The Company has been run this way since February 2010 and even though that period in business had been one of recession, Wastex has still managed to hold its own, a good sign in these hard times.

Although we have had our teething problems with this, we have to this point, survived.

Thanks not only to our loyal staff but most importantly our loyal customers.

Thank you all for your continued support!
