Our/Your Safety
All labourers are Site Safe Passport Holders and once a month we hold a Site Safe meeting during staff meetings. We actively promote Site Safe 5 x 5 plan, 5 steps back and 5 minutes to access all new jobs. Job analysis and incident accident reporting With the nature of our job, we have always felt it important to promote safe, healthy, work practices for our selves and any other contractor in and around us on site. That's why in 2004, we decided to become Site Safe members to promote Health and Safety for ALL in and around our job sites. Over the past three to four years Wastex really amped up its efforts with health and safety. Firstly, everyone on the team is a site safe passport holder; three men have supervisor gold cards with more staff pending to go on the course. Wastex has two fully qualified first aid providers in the team, with two more booked for the August 2008 intake, a full two day course for first aid certificate. Wastex has adopted much of Site Safe, in particular incident/accident reports, we regularly hold and document our Health and Safety meetings but most importantly we have encouraged our team to report and document any cuts or abrasions, the little things so that filling in these forms becomes second nature. We then discuss these issues at the next Health and Safety meeting. By doing simple steps Wastex feels that slowly but surely the business grows. Watch this space for more Health and Safety initiatives. |
